The most common sign that a process needs intervention is that it currently lives in a spreadsheet that several people edit and nobody knows which version is the right one.
Does the consulting cost anything?▾
An initial discovery conversation, 60 to 90 minutes with the right technical person, is free and with no commitment. It's usually enough to get clarity on whether there's a project and how big it is. Formal process audits, with documented deliverables, are quoted according to scope.
What if you conclude that we don't need to build software?▾
We say so. In nine years we've turned down projects and pointed clients to competitors or to off-the-shelf solutions when that was the right answer. A development company isn't the most impartial source for deciding whether you need development, and being explicit about that bias is part of doing this work seriously.
